LAST NIGHT'S JUST DESSERTS

JFC regional director Eileen King, Winston & Strawn’s Greg Jacob, PROTECT legislative director Camille Cooper, and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer

We were at Venable for a fundraiser benefiting Justice for Children, a non-profit working to end child abuse nationwide. We pulled ourselves away from the excellent under-18 Gaelic musical group on site just long enough to snap this pic of JFC regional director Eileen King, Winston & Strawn’s Greg Jacob, PROTECT legislative director Camille Cooper, and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer. Steny tells us he’s focused on expanding healthcare access for underprivileged children, and that this year will be no exception to the Congressional tradition of passing major legislation just before the holidays; he says he’s got 7 appropriations bills that need to be finalized by New Year’s.

PROTECT's David Keith

We thought we recognized David Keith, introduced to us as the director of development for PROTECT. He's a Golden Globe-nominated actor (An Officer and a Gentleman); but his performance in Major League II, below, stands out in our mind.

David Keith in Major League II

David tells us the only difference between lobbying and acting is that you don’t have to fake caring about issues as a lobbyist because they all have real world significance.
